Despite the inclement weather I had a lovely day taking my boys to various community events in Ilford and our local community.

Loxford Community Residents Association put on a family fun day, with a butterfly nature trail, and lots of fun sports and activities for young and old alike.

It was nice to see lots of residents I’ve worked with over the past year, and even an old friend spinning the wheels of steel.

Then we headed up to the ‘Al-Noor Dragon Boat’ race day at Fairlop waters to thank the organisers and all the groups taking part. The event raised over £200K for good causes.

Al-Noor are one of the major Muslim community organisations in Ilford serving many of my constituents. Their efforts and generosity know no bounds.

Also visited Well Gate community farm, not in my seat, but just next door in Chadwell Heath in Jon Cruddas MPs seat. This was actually the ward I served as councillor for 8 years before becoming an MP.

The farm is a little treasure and is well worth a visit. It’s free, though donations are welcome. The staff are always on hand to talk and help children feed the farm animals.
