It was my privilege to host an urgent public meeting last Saturday on the ongoing political and economic crisis in Sri Lanka, which was an opportunity to discuss what we can do both locally and internationally.

I was grateful to be joined by speakers Mr Ravi Kumar (General Secretary of the British Tamils Forum), Mr M.C.M Iqbal (former consultant to the UNHRC), Dr Madura Rasaratnam (senior lecturer at City, University of London) and local activist and chair, Mr Niroj Ravi.

My thanks for the many welcome and insightful contributions from the local Tamil and Sinhala communities, as well as Redbridge councillor Thavathuray Jeyaranjan and Tamils for Labour.
