I visited my local park, Goodmayes Park, to see and hear about the fantastic work being done by Ekota Academy.

Starting small they have as an organisation built themselves up to provide sports activities to people of all ages in our community after identifying a lack of provision of local sporting opportunities following years of savage Tory Government cuts. They have now opened a community cafe called ‘Emerald Cafe’ in what was a formerly derelict cricket club building. The cafe beautifully complements the cricket, football, martial arts, and multitude of other activities they now run on a regular basis in the park.

The founder of Ekota Academy, Mizanur Rahman, talked with real passion and energy about his plans for the future and he and his team have my full support in their endeavours.
