I visited Ilford Fire Station to see the station, learn about the firefighting equipment and the ‘Pumps’ (fire trucks), and speak to all the firefighters on today’s watch about life as a firefighter, as well as the challenges facing London Fire Brigade locally and across London.

Our public sector workers, including firefighters, deserve to have their pensions protected and, like those in the NHS and workers across the country, they deserve proper and meaningful pay rises.
Here’s hoping my team will stop calling me ‘Fireman Sam’ in the near future!
