I have spoken out against the Government’s plans to remove the £20 uplift to Universal Credit on 30th September.
The uplift to Universal Credit had been introduced during the pandemic to provide extra support to Universal Credit claimants who had been struggling to cope. Labour fears, however, that the move may push thousands of Universal Credit users below the poverty line.
There are more than 20,000 people in Ilford South who claim Universal Credit and will lost the £20 uplift. If you are going to be affected and are concerned about the impact this will have on your living conditions get in touch with my office at sam.tarry.mp@parliament.uk
