Pleased to welcome bright minds from Loxford School Sixth Form to Parliament today. It was wonderful to see so many engaged and enthusiastic young people taking an interest in politics and our democracy.

During their visit, I had the pleasure of answering their questions about my role as their local MP and the work I do on behalf of the constituents in Ilford South. But this visit also reminded me of my own journey growing up in Ilford and how grassroots community campaigning got me involved in politics, with the support of the trade union movement.

Sharing my story with these talented young minds reinforced my belief in the power of youth engagement and the importance of amplifying their voices in shaping our future.

Young people will always be at the heart of my work in Parliament
