Around 50 people joined Sam Tarry MP and Dr Sonia Adesara to protest against ongoing privatisation of the NHS
The rally took place outside the Loxford Polyclinic on Ilford Lane, because one of the practices hosted in the clinic – the Loxford Practice – was taken over by U.S. health giant Centene back in February.
Protestors heard from Sam Tarry about his concerns regarding the change of control at the Loxford Practice.
“I feel it is my responsibility as the parliamentary representative for Ilford South to call out the handing over of the likes of the Loxford Practice to faceless, multinational corporations such as Centene and ensure everyone knows what’s really going on so we keep our beloved NHS in public hands.”
He also raised concerns around the perceived lack of transparency surrounding the decision, while he, Dr Adesara and other speakers highlighted concerns regarding Centene’s track record both in the UK and beyond.
